Roads Update / 2012 Harvest Season, Queensland.
Department of Transport and Main Roads / Darling Downs and South West Region Roadworks, 2012 Harvest Season (Queensland).
As the 2012 Harvest Season draws near, the Department of Transport and Main Roads would like to provide you with a timely update on reconstruction works occurring across the Darling Downs and South West Regions of Queensland.
Queenslands state-controlled road network has been badly damaged by flooding since 2010 and many sections require reconstruction. These works are being carried out in addition to the departments planned maintenance and capital projects as part of Operation Queenslander, the largest reconstruction effort in the states history.
Due to high volume of roadworks in the regions, oversized vehicle operators are reminded to check the Conditions of Operations Database (www.tmr.qld.gov.au; search for "Conditions of Operations Database') and the 13 19 40 website (www.131940.qld.gov.au) to make travel arrangements before starting their journey.
These sites provide operators with information on current road conditions across Queensland.
It is the operators responsibility to be aware of the current conditions of operation.
As Transport and Main Roads move to permanently reconstruct the transport network, lane closures, detours and delays will be unavoidable with some roadworks being carried out up to seven days a week.
If you would like to recieve regular updates such as this email, please send your email address to email@example.com or call the South West project team on 1800 177 641 (during business hours). Information is also available via the departments website www.tmr.qld.gov.au.
