Contract harvester costs calculator

Welcome to the AGHA online calculator to help you calculate the yearly costs and the costs per hour of running your Contract Harvesting business.

Using the calculator-

• A few of the spaces are already filled in. These are example figures only, but they should be fairly close to actual costs. The engine and separator hours shown are the average harvest hours over the last three years according to AGHA member surveys. You can use any or all of these, or just overwrite them with your own figures.

• Just leave any box that doesn't apply to you blank (except the Engine and Separator hours). Eg.- if you don't have a caravan, leave those boxes blank or if you don't have a loan on the header (half your luck!) leave the interest rate blank.

• The insurance, liability and workshop costs can be filled in as a percentage of the new header price. This should be pretty close, but if you know know your actual costs put these figures into the Yearly Premium or Costs boxes instead. If you do this, the boxes before the "OR" will be ignored in the calculation.

• After filling it all in, click the calculate button to show your total costs and your costs per hour. Then fill in how much profit margin you want and click the profit button to show the final figures. You can change any of the figures in the calculator and then click the appropriate button to re-calculate the result.

• Hint- There are a lot of boxes to fill in, so instead of using your mouse to point to each one, start at the first box, fill it in, and then hit the TAB key to move to the next one. SHIFT-TAB will move to the previous box. This saves continually going from the keyboard to the mouse to move boxes.
